This year’s Miss South Africa pageant will take place on Women’s Day, Friday (August 9, 2019) at Sun Arena, Times Square in Pretoria.
Judging this prestigious competition will be the radio talk show host Anele Mdoda, actress Connie Ferguson, the reigning Miss Universe Catriona Gray, model and lawyer Thando Hopa and the former Miss South Africa, Demi- Leigh Nel-Peters.
“What’s a better way to celebrate Women’s Day than on home soil? I have been in these ladies’ shoes so I understand what they are experiencing and I can relate to them in every aspect of the competition,” said Nel-Peters.
The lucky contestant crowned this year will be welcomed by five former Miss SA winners, among them Ntandoyenkosi Kunene–Mthethwa. ” The pageant being held on such a significant date reiterates the role of women in society who shape the future…” she said.
The Top 16 is the most diverse group of contestants the pageant has had since its conception in 1956, with some hopefuls having natural hair, unique beauty marks and one being open queer.
The prizes include R1 million cash and R2 million worth of sponsorships. You can vote for your favourite contestant on the Miss South Africa website.
