For the first time of season fifteen, contestants on Idols SA 2019 sang for South Africa’s vote on Sunday (August 25) night. The first nine contestants from the Top 17 sang solos and competed for the top 10.
First up was Sizwe Hlatswayo – singing Tigi” by Sands.
Dinky followed, singing “Get You” by Daniel Caesar. The song choice suited her voice well. “The universe conspired for you to triumph in this moment!” says Unathi.
“This is proof that rejection is not denial,” Somizi said.
Mmangaliso Gumbi did it up with his performance of “Egoli” by Mlindo. She received the first “WOOSHEM” of the night from Somizi. “YES, YES, YES!” Randall said.
Singing “Without Me” by Halsey, Louise Nicholls showcased her silky-smooth, effortless and soulful voice.
Next up, Andy Keys sang “Girls Like You” by Maroon 5. He kept things fun, fresh and pop while gave a very engaging performance.
Virginia Qwabe brought the heat with his performance of “Themba” by Kelly Khumalo, showing off creative vocals.
Viggy Qwabe did very interesting things with her performance of “Mgodi” by Zahara. It was emotional, raw and original. “There are musicians in this world who cry for us and allow us to grieve. It was a perfect,” Unathi said.
Nolo Seodisha sang “Talk” by Kalid, which suited his smooth voice well.
Closing out the night, Xola Toto was owning the stage like a seasoned super-star and delivering some unbelievable high notes of “Come With Me (You Set My World On Fire)” from Black Coffee.
Now it’s up to the viewers. Contestants will be voted through to the top 10. The Idols SA top 10 results will be announced on Sunday (September 8) on Mzansi Magic.

Voting opens at 5PM tonight (Sunday 25 Aug) and closed at 10pm on Tuesday 27 Aug.
