David Kekana, one of the most beloved SABC soccer analyst, has died at the age of 47 on Sunday after a long battle with diabetes.
A statement from his family on August 26 said as follows: “The father of two was admitted at Milpark Hospital on August 13 but died on Sunday 25.”
Kekana, 47, was a former Maths and English teacher at JS Mpanza Primary School in Diepkloof. He started his journalistic career as a Sunday Time’s reporter in 1999 and also at Primedia and M-Net as a sports correspondent.
He rose to prominence after joining the SABC as a sports analyst in 2001. He was also appointed by Gauteng Premier David Makhura as a member of the province’s social cohesion games.
