Kwaito star Kabelo Mabalane has recently shared that he has been sober for 17 years. The 42 year old has always been vocal about his past substance abuse issues.
The fitness fanatic posted on Instagran about his achievement. “Today 17 years ago, I embarked on a journey, and conceded that I can’t, God can, let God. I did it, you can do it too,” he said.
In his 2015 memoir I ran for my life: My story, the “Pantsula for life” reflects on his life as a musician as well as his addiction. He also reveals how he overcame it.
Bouga Luv wrote that it took a change of mind and being held accountable to start him on the road to sobriety. He checked himself into rehab and never looked back.
“It required real bravery to go through that process (rehab). I actually understand why a lot of people stay the way they are,” he wrote in I ran for my life: My story.
