South African actress Moitheri Phetho popularly known as Terry Phetho won the Best Actress Award for her lead role in the movie Faces at the British Urban Film Festival.
The 38 year old accepted the award in absentia because she is currently in Hollywood as a jury member for the Best Foreign Film at the 92nd Annual Academy Awards/Oscars.
“The feeling is always so surreal to win Best Actress. I’m elated that my talent not only continues to cross borders but is recognised amongst the best on international platforms,” she said.
She also thanked the Faces team for “an amazing experience” and said it was an honour to be part of such an important and celebrated project.
Faces is a multi-narrative feature film which has four story lines. It follows the tumultuous lives of the central characters as they navigate hardships, betrayal and loss.
