Skeem Saam actor Mothusi Magano has recently opened up about challenges that come with working in the entertainment industry.
Talking to TshisaLive the 40 year old said there is more to acting than just the glitz and glam. He also spoke about the uncertainty actors face when it comes to work.
“It is not as glamorous as many people think. I think one of the biggest challenges is getting work. It can be quite difficult. It can be quite challenging not knowing when the next gig will come,” he said.
He told young actors to have patience and persevere when starting out in this tough industry. With such an illustrious career one would assume that it would be easy for Mothusi to get new gigs but the actor revealed that wasn’t the case.
“You can appear on screens all the time and people think you are doing well, but behind the scenes you may be struggling. It can be really tough.”
Mothusi graduated from the Wits School of Dramatic Art. Other than television he has appeared in numerous theater productions such as The Third Man, Stones in His Pockets, Venus, Four, Lysistrata, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo and Juliet.
