After 23 years running, the celebrity, travel and lifestyle show Top Billing was axed by SABC 3. Produced by Tswelopele Productions and created by Basetsana Khumalo and Patience Stevens, the iconic programme will air its last episode this Saturday.
In a statement released by Basetsana Kumalo, the executive producer said she and fellow co-producer Patience Stevens are proud of their work and the experiences they brought to viewers.
“It’s been an exceptional 25 years from where I come from as a producer and co-owner of Tswelopele Productions. The privilege of producing an incredible show that has captivated South Africans and international audiences is one that warms my heart every day when I think of my very first day as a young presenter on Top Billing,” Basetsana said.
She said the show epitomizes excellence and sophistication in arts, design, decor, fashion and broadcasting. She also explained that it created countless jobs on air over the years.
“We’ve enjoyed many accolades, experiencing its Longevity and watching audiences embrace living the The Top Billing life gives us goosebumps every day. It is a wonderful chapter neither of us will ever forget.”
Basetsana also thanked the audience for their loyalty to Top Billing for well over two decades. She said she hoped the programme helped them dare to dream bigger.
