Trevor Noah to produce a film about a young Nigerian chess prodigy

Tanitoluwa Adewumi, an 8 year-old Nigerian boy defied all odds when he won the 2019 New York State Chess Championship. The gifted youngster arrived in the U.S. as a refugee with his family due to facing adversity in Nigeria.

From escaping Boko Haram to living in a homeless shelter, to glory, the young prodigy’s story is incredible.

Our very own comedic genius, Trevor Noah along with Haroon Saleem, George Tillman Jr. and Bob Teitel and Norman Aladjem will be bringing Tanitoluwa’s story to the big screen!

The journey of the Adewumi family will be told in three books which will be published in 2020. Consequently, the script for the untitled film will be sourced from the books.

According to Deadline, the inspiring film will be about love, peace, community and faith and the lengths parents will go to bring their family to safety and provide them a better life.
