Bongani Montsai has bagged himself a new award. The actor walked away with the Best Male Performance award for his role in Knuckle City.
In the film, Bongani plays the role of Dudu “Nightrider” Nyakama. The character is a boxer who has to navigate the complexities of township life such as violence, crime and poverty.
It also shines a light on the rarely scene aspects of Mzansi’s boxing world. The movie was selected as South Africa’s entry into the 92nd Academy Awards.
Knuckle City boasts a string of local talent such as the late Nomhle Nkonyeni, Siv Ngesi, Thembekile Komani, Awethu Hleli and Faniswa Yisa.
The awards took place at the Filmhouse Cinemas at Landmark Retail Village, Nigeria. Knuckle City is yet to be released in South Africa. It will make it’s debut in the country at the 40th Durban International Film Festival.
