Bongeziwe Mabandla released his new album which is titled iimini this past Friday. The award winning singer quickly took the number one spot on itunes South Africa. He is known for his distinct, soulful tunes on hits such as Zange, Wena and Ndokulandela.
Taking to Social Media, the African Soul music maestro explained that iimini exlpores the themes of dating, time, yearning for love and consequently heartbreak.
“iimini is out in the world today. the album starts off with meeting someone and how feelings evolve to love, and then the pain and heartache of being with and without someone. The album ends of with songs about the end and the cutting of ties,” he wrote.
The 32 year old debuted his first album Umlilo in 2012 and shook up the Afro-Folk music scene in South Africa. His second album Mangaliso earned him a South African Music Award (SAMA) in June of 2018.
