 Vinolia ‘V-Mash’ Mashego dies

South Africa has lost an icon that defined a generation. Vinolia “V- Mash” Mashego died on Monday, 7 April. She was known for presenting SABC 1’s legendary show Jam Alley from 1994 to 2001. She also appeared on the soapie Generations playing the role of Hilda Letlalo.

The popular television personality was 56 years old at the time of her passing. Her death was reportedly confirmed by her family. She is said to have died in her sleep at her house in Mamelodi.

She appeared in numerous other local shows such as SABC 2’s Muvhango, Mzansi Magic’s PLS Call Me, Isibaya and the SABC 1’s Mutual Friends.

The late presenter dazzled the audience with her colourful, upbeat personality. She became a fan favourite in the entertainment industry.

She paved the way for countless women in television. Her loss is felt all over the coutry. South Africans have taken to Social Media to share their favourite moments of the star as well as send their condolences and offer their tributes.
