Connie and Shona Ferguson of Ferguson Films have addressed the rumours surrounding their telenovela, The Queen. This comes after it was alleged that one of their actresses was fired and her character killed off.
The power couple opened up about this in an Instagram Live session with Themba Ndaba this past weekend. An Instagram user who was watching posed the question of why they always “fire” people acting on their show.
Connie said that it is the nature of television shows for characters to come and go and that it happens all the time in other productions. “Characters come and go. That’s how soaps operate. It’s for a story, sometimes to introduce another story, but characters come and go,” she explained.
Shona commented that people often get tired of seeing the same faces. “I think what people don’t know is the reality of what we do. You are going to see new people in and out. It’s the nature of storytelling.
“People forget that when they watch a show, they get to a point when they are tired of the same people. For people to see new characters, somebody has to go.”
