Actor Mlali Mangcala issues statement accusing Ferguson Films of maltreatment

Mlali Mangcala has accused Connie and Shaun Ferguson of Ferguson Films of maltreatment. The actor who played Captain Sthembiso Radebe on The Queen said he was severely underpaid.

His character was supposed to be on the show for two months but was asked to stay for a year. “When they asked me to stay on for a year I asked if we could look at my rate, travelling, accommodation and pedium. They promised to do that when we go to season 2. I accepted although they have me a take it or leave it attitude,” the letter reads.

He claims to have only been given an increase of R100 for season 2. “They only gave me an increase of R100. We gotta to Season 3 and they gave me a global contract but with an increase of R100 again. All this time they will promise to give me all that is due to me in the next season and that never happened. We got to Season 4 and the same happened.

He said he was given accommodation at the Khoza mansion where he had to share a bed with the housekeeper. He raised concerns over this but the matter was never resolved.

The disgruntled actor said he faced financial issues and lost his car and out housed. He found out that his character has been killed off in May “The Fergusons made me pay for being on tv.”
