Legendary South African actress Mary Twala was laid to rest this Thursday morning. The 79 year old’s funeral was held at Grace Bible Church in Soweto. She died on Saturday, 4 July after battling illness.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the restrictions that have been put in place as a result, members of the public could not go and pay their respects to the late entertainer.
Only close friends and family of up to 50 were permitted to say attend. They adhered to health precautions such as wearing masks and using hand sanitizers. The sombre occasion was streamed on various Social Media plartforms.
Dr Rebecca Malope sang a touching song in the final send off. Media personality Bonang Matheba was among the few who were able attend.
Mary Twala had an incomparable career that spanned 6 decades. She conquered both television and film, winning the hearts of millions. She will be remembered as one of South Africa’s greatest actresses.
